Our mission: make handling memory, state, and context for AI agents outside the cloud as simple as it is in the cloud. Today it isn't close. An agent without data is inert, and outside the cloud, data is duct tape.

An agent in the field needs data that is verifiable, auditable, concurrent, collaborative, and permissioned. No single system gives you all five. SQLite gives you local storage and nothing else. Every other database assumes the cloud is there to provide the rest.

We're building the data layer agents actually run on: local-first, syncs peer to peer, every write verifiable, every read auditable, no cloud required. The stack is open source: github.com/sourcenetwork/defradb. We think it's the best memory an agent can have, bar none.
